Bauer's Grand Entrance!

Well, after a near perfect pregnancy reality slapped us in the face. After having elevated blood pressure at my routine dr.'s appointment on Tuesday, they wanted me to do some further testing. We went in for a non-stress test at 1:30 on Thursday and never returned home. The baby's vitals were good, mine...not so lucky. They broke my water at about 3:30pm and at 7:05 Friday morning, this precious little man was here!
It was a rough little delivery for both of us-- My heavenly epidural prevented me from feeling most of it, but Bauer wasn't so lucky. He needed a little assistance since he was posterior along with a plethora of other issues, but when all things were said and done, Andrew and I had this beautiful baby boy. We named him Bauer Scott Ellis. He was 6 lbs 7 oz, 18 1/2 inches long and cute as a button!

As you can tell, he has a head full of light-brown hair--same color as his dad's-- and you may have also noticed the feeding tube he has in. Unfortunately, after spending Friday with mom and dad, the pediatricians decided he needed to be admitted up to the Newborn ICU to try to figure out why he was having a hard time breathing. He's actually still there as I write this post now. They sent me home this morning, and we just wait for them to call and tell us he's ready to eat and we hop in the car to go feed him and spend some time with him. Along with his breathing issues, he's also got a severe cone-head going on. They did a CT scan this evening to try to figure out why the cone-head is taking a long time to go away and if it's associated with him holding his breath from time to time. He's been gradually eating better and getting less irritable, all which are good signs. The took his feeding tube out tonight since him and I have diligently been working on the nursing thing even though we are apart. We're hoping he keeps getting stronger and we get to take him home sometime this week. We love him sooo much. We can't wait to be able to love on him whenever we darn well please and without lots of wires and tubes to worry about. We'll keep you updated on his progress. Thanks for your many thoughts and prayers in our behalf.
I love being a mom so much-- He is the most precious thing. I look in awe and wonder at him, dreaming of our fun-fill adventures ahead.

Today I can't stop thinking about...

...the fact that I'm really truly due to have a baby in the next 2 1/2 weeks. This pregnancy has gone by SOOO fast and I can't believe I could really have a baby any moment. I'm feeling great and I'm so excited (and let's not pretend, totally freaked out!) for the adventures ahead! I just can't stop thinking about it today so I thought I'd share.

Time flies when you're having fun!

Yesterday, Andrew and I celebrated 2 years of being married. In some ways I couldn't believe it has been that long but in other ways I felt like it's gone by soooo fast!! Andrew spent the morning attending his last BYU classes ever, and I spent it realizing that after 2 years, i wasn't sure how long to let the hard boiled eggs boil for my mom's potato salad. We decided to do a picnic in the canyon, play a competitive game of "how well do you know your spouse" and enjoy time together away from the hussle and bussle of life. It was perfect! If you would have asked us 2 years ago if we would be getting ready to have a baby in the next few weeks, we both would have laughed! But, that just teaches us that you can make plans all you want, but don't be suprised if you're no where near where you thought you'd be. We couldn't be happier or more excited that we'll be adding an addition to our family--even if it's happening sooner than we thought. We realize that the Lord is the one who is in charge and his timing is always perfect!
Andrew is a wonderful husband, one who never ceases to amaze me with his kindness and continuous love and care for me and for others around him. I spent most of the picnic just laughing at him! I can't wait to see what the next 2 years bring for us-- whatever it is, I'm glad I will be sharing it with him!

In case you were wondering...

I'm SUPER a.d.d. with my background. I don't even spend a lot of time looking-- i just make rash decisions. Maybe if I spent a couple more minutes looking, I would really love one and keep it longer than a few days! Until I justify spending time looking, you can all enjoy the suspense of waiting for my blog to load, wondering what it will look like!

Ps- Dr.'s appointment in the morning, 5 1/2 weeks and counting. Maybe he'll throw a party for me for doing so good for so long!!! Yeay for making it this far! I'm still feeling great and I thank Heavenly Father for minute of it!
